गांधी हत्या, रा. स्व. संघ आणि देवदास गांधी

राहुल गांधी यांनी रा. स्व. संघावर गांधी हत्येचा आरोप केल्याचे प्रकरण सध्या गाजते आहे. ३० जानेवारी १९४८ रोजी महात्मा गांधीजींची हत्या झाल्यानंतर १५ दिवसांच्या आतच, त्यांचे पुत्र देवदास गांधी यांनी त्या प्रकरणावर एक लेख लिहिला होता. ६ फेब्रुवारी १९४८ रोजी त्यांनी लिहिलेला हा लेख गांधीजींनी सुरु केलेल्या साप्ताहिक हरिजनमध्ये १५ फेब्रुवारी १९४८ च्या अंकात प्रकाशित झाला होता. लेखाचे शीर्षक होते- `i speak as an orphan'. देवदास गांधी हे महात्मा गांधींचे पुत्र तर होतेच, पण हिंदुस्थान टाईम्स या अग्रगण्य दैनिकाचे संपादक सुद्धा होते. त्यांच्या दीर्घ लेखात त्यांनी त्या घटनेचा पुष्कळ आढावा घेतला आहे. तो सगळा मुळातून वाचण्यासारखा आहे. रा. स्व. संघाच्या संदर्भात देवदास गांधी यांनी त्या लेखात काय म्हटले आहे? ते खालीलप्रमाणे-

`the rss was once a movement which evoked my admiration. physical culture, drill, early rising and a disciplined living was its basis when it commenced. but soon adventurers came into the picture. some saw in it personal salvation and political opportunity. deterioration set in. shocking things began to be said by some of the leaders. first in private, then even publicly. at last someone started harbouring the darkest thoughts. but let us not loose our perspective. there are people in the hindu mahasabha and in the rss who would have given their lives to save gandhiji had they known. and this obviously applies to the vast majority of them. there is no more than a handful of individuals who are guilty of this crime. nor should we confuse maharashtra with a few maharashtrians who have lurking accomplices elsewhere. it is said that some of them celebrated the events by eating sweets. that is too comic for words.'

या अतिशय स्पष्ट भूमिकेवर वेगळ्या भाष्याची गरज नाही. त्याच्या अन्वयांबद्दल पुन्हा केव्हा तरी.
