Hippocrates

Sustainable development can't be a reality without sustainable consumption. Do our society, our economists, our governments aspire for one? Who will bell the cat. Are we not Hippocrates? Even environmentalist don't wish to live simply. To be true, environmentalist are more Hippocrates as they voice for environment and that's it. They even don't labour to articulate links between environmental degradation and day to day living of masses and their self. Their concern about environment ends with plantation and non use of plastic. That's all.

Brodgauge metro is the best example. It's ok that this project will reduce time and misery of lakhs of people. Fine. It's commendable. But what's the need of those bogies to be with TVs and restaurants and hostesses and likewise parafernalia. Why not the metro be the metro train only? No one will voice against it. Instead everybody will rush to praise it. 'Oh our vidarbh metro has this and that and that and that.' we as a society has become so myopic and non sensitive that we even refuse to ponder what is good and what is bad. Alas. God save the nation. God save the humanity.
